I’m stuffed. I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend and spent it surrounded with family and friends! My weekend was so fun and busy but definitely passed by way too quickly.
My cousin came to visit from Los Angeles and we spent Saturday morning watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. It was my first time watching and I would say next year I’ll stick to the TV. Here are some of my favorite giant balloons:
For dinner this year we had a 12.5 pounder. We picked the smallest turkey that was available since I really didn’t feel like eating leftovers for weeks. I always follow Alton Brown’s Recipe, but I usually substitute the candied ginger with chopped ginger + sugar. Alton is my culinary hero. The turkey was so moist and flavorful!
For sides we had my favorite Bacon with Brussel Sprouts, Candied Yams with Marshmallows, Garlic-Parmesan Mashed Potatoes, Creamed Corn, and Cheesy Biscuits.
For desserts, we had Salted Caramel Apple Pie. It was yummilicious.
The rest of the weekend was filled with Holiday Markets, (not so successful) Black Friday Shopping, a Comedy Show at Caroline’s on Broadway featuring Tracy Morgan of 30-Rock, and our very first married Christmas Tree (tree reveal later this week!)
and of course… since I was so sick of turkey by Saturday… a Hot Pot in Flushing. Yeah!
and Ippudo Ramen on Sunday, since a friend came to visit and just had to have this ramen. It was delicious but I won’t be coming back for a while… not with the 1 hour wait!
Whew! That was a long post!
Have a lovely week everyone! Let’s finish those leftovers!
xo,
Angelina
What a lovely feast!
I made the same Turkey Recipe (my first turkey!) for Thanksgiving and it was so good and easy! You know me, I not a culinary genius but I have to say it was the best turkey I have ever had.
That’s because Alton is the best and his recipe never fails :)
